I've never enjoyed myself so much since I created this wiki, more than a year and a half ago. Not only has it felt wonderful to work with the Mantaray articles (as difficult as it was to make the album page), I've enjoyed every bit of it. And the tracks are a large bonus, lovely for the most part. Enjoying the solo work of Siouxsie it's like being in "heaven on earth".
Let it be known however, I discovered Siouxsie in 2007. Not because of this album... or perhaps it was? Not sure, since before that album Siouxsie and the Banshees had been forgotten (for the most part). I never heard about her at all before. Perhaps saw her on TV, heard about her in the radio news, or maybe MTV/VH1 but maybe once in my life and since I didn't know her, well, didn't pay attention.
Like I mentioned before, in Pandora internet radio. I was listening for music similar to Simple Minds my second favorite band (my favorite at that time), U2 (a band I highly respect and adore); and other similar rock music. All of a sudden while browsing the web in another tab (and bored as hell), comes "Kiss Them For Me"....
I was too bored to listen to what was playing. It DID NOT register. I ALMOST missed it. Concentrated in what I was doing (questing in Marapets) I believe, by the time the song got to around the 5th verse I "awoke", it was fading.... wha? NO!!! Help! I almost fell off my chair!
- I still wish I had been paying more attention!
Skipping songs in Pandora is not something you CAN do very often, but can you go back? I don't remember... But I do know I definitely stopped the next song. I went and saw the picture of the band in the Pandora description. At the time, a really beautiful photoshoot for the album Superstition and perhaps my favorite photo from the band from that time period. "Wow, she's beautiful" - I thought. -- (NO, NO, NO not in THAT sense, you sickos! I am a girl after all!) :D
Immediately I went to youtube. "God, let it not be an obscure b-side to which there's no video"! - I thought. I was mesmerized, immediately.
- When I listen to it, it always feels like the first time.
Funny thing is that at the time I had no intention to listen to new songs at all, or new bands. I was just curious to see if there were any similar music to what I was accustomed to listen.
I went on to buy the Mantaray album in iTunes right away AND I eventually gave-in and bought the CD in the official Siouxsie store. Siouxsie never seizes to amaze.
